Did you know that the Hawaiians do not know a word for "good-bye"? They say: a hui kana - until you and I meet again.

We now have our officiant

I emailed Lori from TropicalMauiWeddings the other day regarding what we are wanting as our officiant. Our criteria: an officiant who can blow a conch shell and wears a robe.

We want our officiant to wear a robe because we don't want to have to worry about him clashing with anybody's outfits. ha ha. I know. Lame. Oh well.

And Lori emailed a pastor yesterday and he replied to her to say that he's available and that he's a "Beautiful man". Well, without further ado, here's our pastor!

"Pastor Laki "Pomakai" (meaning "blessed") Kaahumanu was born and raised on the island of Maui. His lineage is of Royal decent: Queen Kaahumanu, favorite wife of the great King Kamehameha, the one who united the Hawaiian Islands, was his great great grandmother. Queen Kaahumanu brought Christianity to her people in the 1820's and Laki has followed in her footsteps, becoming the minister of Harvest Chapel Church of God in 1992 and also establishing a shelter. He is well known all over Maui for his open heart and helping hand. Over the years him and his wife have adopted 16 children and have cared for so many more. In 2006 Laki followed the Lord's calling and spent two years in Las Vegas, helping and curing as much as he could. He returned to Maui and has founded the "church on the go", becoming an Evangelist. It is truly an honor to be married by this sprititual leader who has brought so much happiness to our Ohana (family) and will make you a part of his. To Laki his Hawaiian heritage is at the core of his heart which is why he likes to share his Hawaiian traditions and ceremonies with you."

HUH? What?

Okay, remember how I told you that we helped booked different trips for my family members as well as Mr. JB's? And of course, I knew this was going to show up on our credit card statment soon...

So, I went online to see the damage and was just shocked! I don't know why! I mean, I was expecting it but in a way, I wasn't. Here's what I saw!

In case you can't see, that's $9,000.22!! NINE THOUSANDS!! That's a sh!t load of money! We've never had that much debt. YIKES! Okay..now, time to go pay it off. =)

Second chance love...

Well, you know how I've been telling you about Gilt? A website that has designer items for sale for about 36 hours? And I'm not sure if I've told you but everytime I want something, it's GONE! And of course, I get mad, thinking: ah damn it! Only if I was here a little sooner!

Well...today, I had "luck" on my side. Nah..actually, I had rain on my side. My princess Bash and I usually walk around 8:30 on my days off. It just turns out that way since I usually take prince Brandon to the park and we don't get home around 8:25 or so. And because my princess walk kinda slow, we usually don't get home until 9:30 a.m. And if you know Gilt, that means, most items are gone by then.

Not today!!

Princess and I got to the end of the street and it started raining. So, we came back and it was about 8:55 a.m. So, I checked my email and saw an email from Gilt saying that they are LAMB bags. I thought it was tomorrow! But it's today??? Well, let me go check it out! (I was already irritated when I thought the LAMB sale was tomorrow and I was going to miss it. And then to find out that it's today and that I will actually have a chance of getting it...well..priceless!)

And when they sent their weekly calendar last week, there was a yellow bag I wanted. So, as I signed onto Gilt, I said, please please..let that be on there still! And it was!! So, I showed it to the Mr and he said to get it. I said, but it costs $xxx and he said, just get it. Here's what he wrote in the IM for me:

Uh..yeah...how cute is this man? He recognized all the hard work I've been putting into our wedding and to my school!! Well, okay okay! He has been saying thank you to me all these times. And he tells me that I deserve everything and ya de ya da. Basically, he's just a sweet man!

So, I bought the bag! ha ha ha! Well, it's not in yellow like I wanted initially but it's in black. Who was I kidding by thinking about getting it in yellow? I want to have my best friend with me through out our Hawaii trip and yellow ain't going to work out. If I had money lying around, of course, I will get the yellow one too. This one is just too damn cute!!! Check it out!

Reactions to our invitation

So, I've told you that we've sent out our invitations the other day, right?

Well, here are some of the reactions we've gotten so far...

"I got the invitation =) It's very pretty. Even Robert said that it's very nice!" From my cousin Jessica

"We got ours too...good job putting it together very nicely. It looks very pretty and neat. I love the pocket thing where you insert the RSVP card. I have seen some invitions with so much stuffs that when you open it, little stuffs fall out and look messy. " From my cousin Sue

What to give as a present?

I'm sure you've seen this happened before: you are attending a wedding and there's a registry for the couple, which have a list of items that they're wanting. And you get it for them....and then you find out later that someone else got them the same darn thing.

Don't you hate that?

I do.

I TRY to give presents that are OUTSIDE of the registry and non returnable (meaning: PERSONALIZED!). I know I know. Some couples do not like that...but that's just me!

So, when my sister and my BIL got married, I gave them a personalized cake cutting set with an album from Things Remembered, which were engraved.

And when my older cousin got married, I got them a frame which had engraved names and the date of their wedding. To this day, they say they love it. =) AND I know they do cuz when we go to their house, we see the frame. hee hee.

And when one of my younger cousin got married, I also got them a frame with the engraved names and the date of their wedding. They say they like it but who knows where it is now. ha ha.

Well, same thing for Mr. JB's cousin who got married as well.

And then I realized. Um..how come I kept getting frames? Well, no more I'd say! I've moved on from the frames..
